Williams started nine out of the 13 games he played in as a true freshman as a defensive lineman in 2012, compiling 64 tackles, eight sacks, and an interception.
He was recognised as the Pac-12’s top defensive rookie. 2013 saw Williams go from tackle to defensive end as a sophomore.
Williams was recognised to the first team of the Pac-12 after compiling 74 tackles and six sacks, and ESPN named him an All-American. He had 80 tackles and seven sacks in 2014 as a junior. He received honours from ESPN and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) such as Team MVP, first-team All-Pac-12, and All-American.
