Tate began his acting career with roles in films including “Jason’s Lyric” (1994), “Across the Tracks” (1991), and “Barfly” (1987), all of which starred Mickey Rourke, Faye Dunaway, and Ricky Schroder.

He was a part of the TV program “Without a Pass” (Showtime, 1991-92). He was also in the “Seeds of Tragedy” television movie (Fox, 1990-91). Early on in his acting career, he appeared on television, notably in a part on “Roc” (Fox, 1990-94).
