Joseph spent his first two seasons at Illinois mostly as a backup defensive back and on special teams. As a junior, he was given the starting nod, and in the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season for the Illini, he had 19 tackles.
After finishing the season with 57 tackles, one sack, three fumble recoveries, and five pass interceptions in addition to his five pass recoveries, Joseph was named first-team All-Big Ten Conference in 2021.
Immediately following the season’s conclusion, Joseph announced he would be participating in the 2022 NFL Draft. Joseph received a request to play in the 2022 Senior Bowl
