American football running back for the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League Joseph Tyler Mixon was born on July 24, 1996. (NFL). Some analysts and scouts evaluated Mixon as a first-round prospect coming out of college, but because of his past, they predicted that he would be chosen in the third or fourth round. Mixon played basketball and football for the Falcons at Freedom High School. He started three seasons as a running back for the football squad of Freedom High School. He has 171 carries for 1,134 yards and 13 touchdowns as a sophomore.

Mixon carried the ball 201 times for 1,443 yards and 21 touchdowns in his junior season. He carried the ball 226 times for 1,704 yards and 23 touchdowns in his final season. For the Falcons, Mixon participated in 16 basketball games. He averaged 12.2 points per game, shot 57% of his free throws, and made 79 field goals. That season, his club finished 10-0 in league play and 22-2 overall.
