Mooney was the Green Wave’s top receiver at Tulane during both his junior and senior years. In both 2018 and 2019, he caught 48 receptions for a combined total of 993 and 713 yards. Mooney finished his college career with 19 touchdowns.
Mooney achieved a 40-yard sprint time of 4.38 seconds at the NFL draught combine.
The Chicago Bears selected Mooney with the 173rd overall choice in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. On July 21, he agreed to a four-year rookie contract with the group.
