He played collegiate football at Ohio State, where he set a school record with 35 career touchdown receptions. The Saints selected Olave in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Olave participated in both the offence and special teams while a freshman at Ohio State. In his first season, he had 12 receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns.
In Ohio State’s 62-39 victory over Michigan in 2018, he was able to bring in two touchdowns and deflect a punt.
He caught five passes for 79 yards and a touchdown against Northwestern the following week in the 2018 Big Ten Football Championship Game. Olave declared after the 2021 campaign that he would opt out of the 2022 Rose Bowl in order to get ready for the 2022 NFL Draft.
