According to US media sources, Julie Powell, the best-selling author of Julie & Julia, passed away at the age of 49.

Powell passed away on October 26 at her home in Olivebridge, New York, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Powell also tweeted about her COVID-19 infection in the middle of September, describing it as having a “bad headache, cough, maybe fever, and exhaustion.” We cannot confirm whether she took the vaccine or not.

According to her brother-in-law, she died as a result of “cardiac arrest triggered by a heart arrhythmia.”

Powell’s editor Julie Clain confirmed the author’s passing in a statement to the LA Times and recalled her “dazzling creativity and inventiveness.”

In Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume 1, Powell notably recorded her attempt to prepare every recipe.

In order to “lend structure to her days,” the then-administrative assistant started the initiative. She chronicled her journey in a well-read blog for Salon.com.

Powell wrote a book named Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen about the experience and released it in 2005.

Later, Nora Ephron wrote and directed the movie version of the book, which starred Meryl Streep as Powell and Amy Adams as Julia Childs.
