After transferring as a graduate student, Jones became a member of the Tennessee Volunteers and was instantly able to play for the squad.
In his debut year with the team, he hauled in 22 catches for 280 yards and three touchdowns while also leading the Southeastern Conference (SEC) with 398 kickoff return yards.
Since the 2020 season was missed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jones made the decision to return to Tennessee and take advantage of the extra year of eligibility provided to college athletes.
