Stephen Fry was cast as Gilbert, one of The Sandman’s most appealing characters, according to Neil Gaiman, the creator of the comic book series that served as the inspiration for Netflix’s popular live-action TV adaptation.
He was reportedly picked for the part because of his expert abilities and knowledge gained over many years in the film industry.
A surprising resemblance exists between Gilbert’s original artwork from The Sandman comics and Stephen John Fry, a British writer, actor, and comedian well-known for a variety of roles beginning in the 1980s.
