Renowned television host and cookbook author Padma Lakshmi recently shared some intimate details about a challenging period in her life. In a candid interview with The New Yorker, Lakshmi opened up about the time when her daughter’s paternity was brought into question.
Lakshmi welcomed her daughter, Krishna, in 2010 with Adam Dell, but initially kept Dell’s identity private. During a previous podcast interview with PEOPLE’s “Me Becoming Mom,” she disclosed that she was “between relationships” at the time of Krishna’s birth.
In her 2016 memoir, “Love, Loss and What We Ate,” Lakshmi delved deeper into the complexities of navigating her relationships with both Dell and another man, Teddy Forstmann, leading up to Krishna’s birth. Unfortunately, the public nature of the situation brought unwanted attention and scrutiny into her personal life.
The former Top Chef host’s romantic history also includes a high-profile marriage to author Salman Rushdie, which ended in divorce in 2007. Despite the controversies and age differences, Lakshmi emphasized that their love was genuine.
Reflecting on past challenges, Lakshmi revealed her journey towards finding peace and reclaiming her personal narrative. Through her various projects, including the show “Taste the Nation,” the TV personality continues to shape her own narrative, embracing motherhood and her professional endeavors.
While her romantic life has seen ups and downs, recent reports suggest that Lakshmi is now in the early stages of a new relationship with black-ish creator Kenya Barris.
