Onye Eme-Akwari was born in the Nigerian city of Owerri and lived there for several years before moving to the United States in the late 90s with his family. As a lifelong music lover, he started playing piano and the drums at an early age, leading to performing in and teaching high school marching bands, independent indoor drumlines, and world-class drum corps.
Eme-Akwari has toured the continental United States and various countries in Europe and Asia performing ensembles from around the country.

He is thrilled and honored to portray Charles Chuck McDew in Son of the South. In addition to his acting credits, Onye is also an instructor at the Robert Mello Studio in Atlanta, GA.
