Muirinn Lane Kelly, a screenwriter and executive producer, has passed away. She was fifty.

The executive, who was credited with producing Mistresses and Waterloo Road in the UK, passed away last week. A drama series on Sky Atlantic and Epic that she most recently produced was called Domina.

Kelly started her career in the late 1990s by spending two years at Roger Corman’s Connemara studio.

After that, she moved into development at the BBC, where she worked as a script editor on programmes including Silent Witness and Waking the Dead.

Eventually, she changed jobs and worked as a writer for Ecosse Films on the BBC One drama Mistresses, which was later recreated for ABC in the United States. She then joined Bandit Television, where she was appointed EP for two seasons of the Dawn French comedy Delicious. She went on to write for the BBC school drama Waterloo Road and Raw for Irish pubcaster RTE1.
