Arteta was born in San Sebastian in Spain on 26th March, 1982. He is, therefore, 40 years old. He started his professional career at FC Barcelona, where he lined up for the youth team for three years.
In 2001, he moved to Ligue 1 side PSG on loan and then joined Scottish giants Rangers permanently the following year after finding game time hard to come by at Barcelona.
After two years in Scotland, Arteta returned to Spain and joined his hometown club Real Sociedad. Everton was his next destination, first joining on loan before the move was made permanent.
