Mike Schank dies: Cause of death revealed
Schank was diagnosed with cancer in June, which he disclosed to his fans via a post on his Facebook page.
In his post, Mike said, “I’ve been diagnosed with a rare type of cancer recently.”
“It started in my esophagus and spread to my liver and lungs and a bunch of other places in my body. It’s stage 4 and they can’t cure it but they are going to try to get it under control with radiation and chemotherapy,” he added.

Schank recently tweeted, “August 3rd was my 27 years clean and sober birthday,” in honor of his 27th anniversary of recovery.
Mike excelled in “American Movie,” where he played a variety of roles including extra, assistant, editing support, and storyteller.
The film depicts how Mike persisted in working with his friend, director Mark Borchardt, when they were filming the slasher thriller Coven.
