Michael Learned is an American actress best known for her role as Olivia Walton in the long-running CBS drama series The Waltons.
Learned has four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, tying Tyne Daly for the most wins. Three of the awards went to The Waltons, while the other went to Nurse.

Michael Learned was born on April 9, 1939, to Elizabeth Duane “Betti” and Bruce Learned in Washington, D.C. Her father was a diplomat and her maternal grandfather was an attaché for the United States Embassy in Rome.
She relocated to Austria at the age of 11. Her father was a State Department employee there.
She was enrolled at Tring’s Arts Educational School during this time. The Tring Park School for the Performing Arts is the institution’s new name in Tring, Hertfordshire, England.
