Melanie Lynskey, known for her roles in movies like “The Tattooist of Auschwitz,” is opening up about how she maintains a strong connection with her 5-year-old daughter, whom she shares with husband Jason Ritter, while she is away filming.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Lynskey describes her daughter as a “little angel person” and reveals the sweet way they stay connected even when they are apart. “She loves to write notes and receive notes, like little cards that say, ‘I love you so much,’ or if she gets upset about something, she’ll write out an apology card,” Lynskey shares.
Before a recent trip to London, Lynskey left her daughter surprise notes in the shape of hearts, which her daughter found within 24 hours. “She went on a mission, she got so excited,” Lynskey recalls. “So she’s like, ‘Where are the rest of my notes?’ I’m like, well you found them, you found 12 notes, but one was in her lunchbox and one was under her pillow and stuff like that. So that’s her favorite thing.”
In a previous Instagram post, Lynskey shared a heartwarming moment when she discovered her daughter had tested positive for COVID. She expressed her love for her daughter and the importance of being there for her, no matter the circumstances.
Lynskey’s new movie, “The Tattooist of Auschwitz,” will premiere on Peacock soon, showcasing her talent on screen.
