Matthew Thomas Skiba, an American musician, singer, and songwriter was the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the band Blink-182 from 2015 to 2022.
He is best recognized for his work as the founding lead vocalist and guitarist for Alkaline Trio. Thematically, Skiba’s lyrics frequently have gloomy romantic overtones.

Matt Skiba was raised in McHenry, Illinois, after moving there as a child. Early on, he picked up the drums and the keyboard.
His mother, Joan Skiba, teaches fourth and fifth graders at Crystal Lake, Illinois’ Woods Creek Elementary School. Thomas Skiba, his father, practices oral surgery in Crystal Lake. His younger sisters are also twins.
His debut performance was with Public Image Ltd. In 1996, he made the decision to convert from the drums to the guitar while working as a bike messenger. Matt had previously performed with bands like Blunt, Jerkwater, and the Traitors.
