Mark Souder dies: Cause of death revealed
After a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer, Mark Souder, who served as northeast Indiana’s U.S. House representative for more than 15 years, passed away. He made his departure at the age of 72 years.
Earlier this year the renowned politician was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2022 according to reliable sources.
As part of the 1994 Republican “Contract With America” surge that overturned Democratic control of the House after four decades, the Grabill native defeated Democratic incumbent Jill Long Thompson.
From 1995 until 2010, Republican politician Mark Edward Souder represented Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives. He served as Dan Coats’ congressional assistant and committee staff director in the 1980s and early 1990s.
He was survived by his wife Diane Bauer and his grown children Nathan Elias Souder, Zachary Souder, and Brooke Diane Souder.
