American actress Laverne Cox is bursting into laughter after noticing that a Twitter user mistook her for pop star Beyonce during the ongoing 2022 US Open Tennis tournament.
Cox, who is widely known by movie fans as Sophia Burset in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, was surprised to see a tweet that claimed she was Beyonce.
The Twitter user captured a short clip from a TV screen showing a woman who resembles Beyonce at the US Open. He captioned the clip: “Beyonce at the US Open”
The tweet went viral, attracting the attention of Cox, who took to her official Instagram page to react to the mistaken identity.
She said the tweet was ‘funny as hell’.
“Not me getting mistaken for @Beyonce at the #USOpen tonight then trending on Twitter as the internet cackles over the mistaken identity,” she said on Instagram, adding “These tweets are funny as hell. Enjoy!!!”
She further threw her weight behind Serena Williams, who is playing her final career Grand Slam.
