Hawaiian surfer Kalani David has been confirmed dead after a heart attack incident on Saturday, September 17, 2022. He was just 24.
According to reports, his untimely death was caused by a seizure while spending time with his extended family in Costa Rica. He reportedly collapsed following an irregular heartbeat which led to a heart attack.
His tragic passing was announced by his friend and sports photographer Peter King via an Instagram post.
“Oh man. Love you Kalani. Only God knows His timing. Life isn’t easy. Always battling. Always Learning,” King said before breaking the news, “Heartbreaking News. Kalani passed away in Costa Rica today, he had a massive seizure while surfing.”
“He had re-connected with family there and was having such a great time. I’ll always remember your stoke when we’d shoot skate n surf and how much hope you had for your future. God Bless the family and extended family that were always there for you.”
He was loved by thousands of fans of surfing across the world, and his passing attracted tributes from surfing greats like Mick Fanning and Kelly Slater.
Kalani David is survived by his American father Andrea David and Costa Rican mom Maureen Rojas. He had a 16-year-old sibling known as Keoni David.
As of the time of his death, Kalani was single and didn’t reveal much of his relationship status on any of his social media pages.
He mostly shared his surfing and fishing exploration with his dog pet Scooby on his Instagram page.
