Social media statements were made a few days after culinary writer Julie Powell passed away to claim the 49-year-old was killed by the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to an obituary in The New York Times, Powell, a best-selling novelist and blogger whose writing served as the inspiration for the film “Julie & Julia,” passed away on October 26 at her home in upstate New York.
In an unrelated Instagram post on November 2, Powell discussed getting a COVID-19 booster shot and learning she had “black hairy tongue,” a normal and unharmful medical ailment. Powell also mentioned getting a COVID-19 booster shot.

In an Instagram post, Powell’s prior vaccination-related tweets were exploited to infer that the immunizations were to blame for his passing.
The New York Times was informed by Powell’s husband that his wife had died of heart arrest. No evidence that the vaccine was to blame can be found.
