Hicks had 216 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 36 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, four interceptions, ten pass breakups, and a touchdown over his final three seasons as a starter for the football team at Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio.
Parade, USA Today, and EA Sports all named him an All-American. Hicks received the Dick Butkus Award for High School in 2009.
