John Kavanagh, an Irish actor, was born in 1946 and has appeared on stage, in more than 20 films, including Alexander (2004), Braveheart (1995), and Cal (1984). His most recent claim to fame was his portrayal of The Seer in the History Channel series Vikings.
Among other accolades, he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award in 1989 for his work in a revival of Juno and the Paycock.
When he was 19 years old, Kavanagh enrolled in the Brendan Smyth Academy after receiving training at the Abbey Theatre. He began his employment with the business in 1967 and stayed there for ten years before moving on to freelance work.
