Joe Bussard passed away on Monday at his home in Frederick, Maryland, which is one floor above his collection of rare 78 rpm records.
He amassed about 13,000 of them over the course of his life, covering jazz, blues, country, jug band, and gospel, and shared his love of the music on the radio and with guests who joined him to listen to the fragile disks in his basement.
His daughter Susannah Anderson confirmed that he passed away while receiving hospice care. She said that pancreatic cancer, which was discovered in 2019, was to blame for his departure.
