Williams James Remar has the attractive looks of a leading man and is a tough, serious character actor.

After becoming well-known as Ajax in his second movie, The Warriors, in 1979 (1979). In the same year, he won praise for his performance alongside Richard Gere in the concentration camp drama “Bent” on Broadway.

James has held a variety of positions and made wise professional decisions during the course of a nearly four-decade career. From the psychopaths Dutch Schultz in Francis Copolla’s The Cotton Club (1984) and “Albert Ganz” in Walter Hill’s 48 Hrs. (1982) to Samantha’s lover, the billionaire playboy, Richard Wright, in the HBO series Sex and the City (1998), James has also been cast in roles that show a more vulnerable side, like his guitarist who gets a break-in the Oscar-winning short, Session Man (1991), Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990) and as Mary Louise Parker’s lover in Boys on the Side.

James received the 8th annual SAG award for his performance in Sex and the City as a part of the Outstanding Comedy Ensemble.

James has received SAG and Emmy nominations for his work in the Dexter ensemble cast. James received the Saturn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 in appreciation of his contributions to the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres.
