Filmmaker James Francis Cameron CC was born in Canada on August 16, 1954.
He originally attracted attention for writing and directing The Terminator, and is now recognised for crafting science fiction and epic movies (1984). With the movies Alien (1986), The Abyss (1989), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), and the action comedy True Lies, Cameron enjoyed even more success (1994). Avatar (2009) and Titanic (1997) are two more films he co-wrote and directed.
Titanic won him Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Film Editing. He received nominations for the 3D movie Avatar in the same categories.
