English singer-songwriter Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (born February 17, 1991), is from England. He started writing songs at the age of eleven.
He was raised in Framingham, Suffolk, and was born in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Early in 2011, Sheeran independently released No. 5 Collaborations Project, an extended play. The following year, he signed with Asylum Records.

John and Imogen Sheeran, Sheeran’s parents, are from London. His paternal grandparents are Irish, and his father comes from a “very huge” Catholic family, according to Sheeran. Imogen is a culture publicist turned jewelry designer, and John is an art curator and lecturer. From 1990 to 2010, his parents founded Sheeran Lock, an independent art consultant.
The UK Albums Chart was topped by Sheeran’s debut album, + (pronounced “plus”). It was published in September 2011. It included “The A Team,” his debut number-one song. Sheeran took home the Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act prizes at the 2012 Brit Awards.
When it was released in June 2014, Sheeran’s second studio album, (pronounce “multiply”), topped charts all over the world. It was named the world’s second-best-selling album in 2015. In the same year, he won Album of the Year at the 2015 Brit Awards, as well as the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors. “Thinking Out Loud,” a single from, awarded him the 2016 Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
