He is one of his parents’ four children. Nick and Jack Cantlay are his two brothers, while Caroline Cantlay is his sister.

He went to the University of California, Los Angeles, after graduating. He was a successful collegiate golfer at UCLA.
Over the course of his first four years working as a professional, Cantlay only claimed two PGA Tour victories, but he has since improved.
