Hounsou, a Beninese-American actor, and model was born in Cotonou, Benin, to parents Albertine and Pierre Hounsou. Hounsou had appearances in the music videos for “Express Yourself” by Madonna, “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” and “Straight Up” by Paula Abdul between 1989 and 1991. He also makes an appearance in the “Hold On” music video by En Vogue.
In the 1990 Sandra Bernhard movie Without You I’m Nothing, Hounsou made his acting debut. He appeared in episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210, ER, and Alias as a guest star. In the science fiction picture Stargate, he played a more significant role.
