From 2015 through 2018, Johnson played collegiate football for Toledo. [3][4] He caught 135 passes for 2,235 yards and 23 touchdowns while playing at Toledo.
He attempted to run four times for a total of 26 yards. His greatest season was his sophomore year when he recorded 74 receptions for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Johnson and the Steelers agreed to a two-year, $36.71 million contract deal on August 4, 2022, with $27 million of that amount guaranteed.
He had 107 catches for 1,161 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns in 16 games as the 2021 season came to a close. Throughout the season, he went over 100 yards in three different games.
Johnson caught five catches for a total of 34 yards and a score in the Kansas City Chiefs during the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, which the team lost 42-21.
