Rapper Coolio, who achieved one of the decade’s biggest singles with Gangsta’s Paradise, has reportedly passed away at the age of 59.
And Michelle Pfeiffer, the actress who played the lead in his biggest hit, led today’s tributes to the late rapper, expressing her “heartbreak.”
According to TMZ, the rapper passed away on Wednesday at a friend’s house in Los Angeles. Coolio, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr., had excused himself to visit the restroom, according to his manager.

The friend went to check on him after he didn’t show up and discovered him on the floor.
Although paramedics were contacted, they were unable to rescue the celebrity, who was believed to have died of heart arrest.
There is no known official cause, but according to TMZ, there are no indications of wrongdoing.
In 1994, Coolio released his debut album It Takes A Thief, which had the breakthrough track Fantastic Voyage, which reached the US top five.
But it wasn’t until the following year that his song for the Dangerous Minds soundtrack, starring Pfeiffer, propelled him to international recognition.
