Gallagher dies: Cause of death revealed
His former manager, Craig Marquardo, confirmed his passing and stated that the cause was organ failure following “many heart attacks” over Mr Gallagher’s life.
Gallagher, the self-described “Wizard of Odd,” believed his role was to “yell at the world.” Gallagher’s first name was Leo, although he withheld it for many years.
Mr Gallagher gave himself as an ecstatic escape from life’s stresses to the thousands of his front-row followers who were honoured, or at least not overtly insulted, by being pelted with cantaloupes, cottage cheese, and a variety of other foodstuffs.
He discussed people’s concerns about money, family, and obligations in an interview with The Miami Herald from 1984. “The folks laugh if you make fun of it,” he continued. They unwind and experience a small amount of healing.
