Former surfing champion Chris Davidson has died tragically after being assaulted outside a bar on the mid-north coast of New South Wales. A 42-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with his death.
His untimely passing has caused quite a stir on social media and has been accompanied by lots of tributes with many using the social media handles to express condolence to the deceased family.

It has been said Just after 11 p.m. on Saturday, according to media outlets, a guy was reported to have been assaulted in the face, fell to the ground, and banged his head on the concrete.
The 45-year-old Davidson was discovered on the ground unconscious when the police arrived at the scene.
He was attended to by ambulance paramedics at the site before being transported to Kempsey hospital, where he passed away shortly after.
Early on Sunday morning, South West Rocks police detained a 42-year-old man and accused him of assault resulting in death.
