George Ward, better known by his stage name Cherry Valentine, has died at the age of 28, according to his family.
Ward starred in the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in the UK and then starred in the BBC documentary Gypsy Queen And Proud.
His death was regarded as a “deep shock” by his relatives.
Ward, who died on Sunday, was reared as a Traveller in Darlington, County Durham.
He graduated as a mental health nurse in 2015 before embarking on his drag career.

Cherry Valentine died suddenly on September 18, 2022, at the age of 28. Her death has not yet been made public.
Her family has already published a statement confirming their daughter’s death.
“It is with the most heart-wrenching and deepest sadness to inform you that our George – Cherry Valentine – has tragically passed away.
“This will come as a profound shock to most people and we understand there is no easy way for this to be announced.
