Reality TV star and celebrity makeup artist Laney Chantal died this week of an accidental drug overdose. Her family confirmed in a public obituary, writing that she had “struggled with various mental illnesses throughout her adult life.”
Laney was born on February 20, 1989, in Manitou Beach-Devils Lake, Michigan, United States. Her real name was Alaina Chantal Parkhurst, and she was 33 years at the time of her death. Laney had come to Los Angeles from Michigan to work as a professional make-up artist, getting work at a Halloween store when she first arrived. She worked for Boneyard FX, which had Universal Studios as a client. She studied at Cinema Makeup School in Los Angeles after graduating in 2007.
Some of Laney’s work can be seen in Lil Nas X’s music video “Montero-Call me By Your Name.” Lil Nas X’s video won the “Video of the Year Award” for MTV’s VMA. She was considered among the best make-up artist, and special effects were her speciality. She worked with many celebrities as a make-up artist, like Bella Thorne and Marilyn Manson.
Laney’s family suggested that people can donate to The Brain & Behaviour Research Foundation, as Laney suffered from mental problems though her adulthood.
