American author of young adult fiction Judith Lewis, who goes by the pen name Cassandra Clare and was born on July 27, 1973, is well known for her critically acclaimed The Mortal Instruments series.
Another innovation credited to Clare by her publisher is the “City of Fallen Angels technique,” in which a physical “letter” from one character to another is pasted to the back of actual copies of a book.

When Clare was younger, she traveled extensively, stopping in France, England, and Switzerland.
After graduating from high school, she returned to Los Angeles. Following that, she split her time between New York City and California while working for several entertainment periodicals, including The Hollywood Reporter.’
