Casper Robert Van Dien Jr. is an actor from the United States. He is best known for playing Johnny Rico in the science-fiction action film Starship Troopers in 1997. Van Dien was born and raised in Milton, Florida, a Pensacola suburb, as the son of Diane, a nursery school teacher, and Casper Robert Van Dien Sr., a United States Navy Commander, and fighter pilot.
Van Dien landed several minor roles in television shows and films after relocating to Los Angeles. Recurring roles as Ty Moody on the daytime soap opera One Life to Live and the prime time drama Beverly Hills, 90210 were two of his early breaks. Van Dien, eager to broaden his acting abilities, played a minor role in the video game Wing Commander IV.
