Moore attended Bassfield High School and was raised in Bassfield, Mississippi.
He was a quarterback and linebacker for the Yellowjackets. As a senior, Moore helped Bassfield go 15-1 and win the Class 2A state championship by making 32 tackles (four for loss) and three interceptions on defence, passing for 1,194 yards and 15 touchdowns, and running for 318 yards and 13 scores.
Moore played for the Ole Miss Rebels for five seasons, the first two of which he spent as a reserve defensive back and on special teams. His junior year was cut short by a ruptured pectoral muscle sustained during training camp.
