An Australian actor who is well-known as a dramatist and director is called Brendan Cowell. Cowell was born in Sydney and was raised in the coastal Cronulla district. He credits his mother and the theatre teacher from his high school with inspiring him to pursue his artistic side. He made his acting debut as Harrag in Season 7 of the HBO television series Game of Thrones. Harrag is an Ironborn sea captain and Theon Greyjoy supporter.
Cowell went on to Charles Sturt University in Bathurst to study for a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Cowell played the enigmatic Tom in the Australian cable TV series Love My Way, for which he also wrote multiple episodes, and he played Todd in the first two seasons of SBS TV’s Life Support, for which he also wrote sketches.

Cowell was recognized with an AWGIE Award for Outstanding Television Mini-Series Adaptation in 2012 and took home the prize. In 2015, Brendan received an AACTA Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
