He was frequently referred to as “Pappy” by other voice performers. He was well-known for his “gruff” character voice acting in the worlds of anime and video games.
But he became particularly well known for his numerous live-action voice-overs, most notably in the Power Rangers series. He was found by the directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas, who then gave him his first voice acting part in the blockbuster Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), providing the voices for all of the Hovito tribesmen that follow Indiana Jones at the opening of the movie.
His most recognisable performances include Rito Revolto’s voices in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers Zeo, Shadowborg in Big Bad Beetleborgs, Scorpix in Beetleborgs Metallix and Deviot in Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy.
