Bill Plante was a seasoned journalist and correspondent for CBS News. He joined the network in 1964 and died on September 28, 2022.

In his last position, he reported often for CBS This Morning and the CBS Evening News as the Senior White House Correspondent.
In 1965, Plante served as a national reporter for CBS News and covered the marches for voting rights from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. Additionally, between 1964 and 1975, when Saigon fell, he completed many tours of service in South Vietnam related to the Vietnam War.
