On weekdays, Kelly can be seen on ABC7 at 5, 6, and 11 p.m. and on WJLA 24/7 News at 10 p.m. He is well known for his “Weather on the Go” segments, in which he uses the entire golf course green as a weather “green screen,” scales up to appear on a big green climbing wall showing his forecast map, and even uses a kayak to paddle in front of a makeshift weather wall.
Kelly has also been able to garner a lot of awards because of his skills and training as a writer and meteorologist.
Eleven Emmys are among the awards, including the Best Weather Anchor Emmy, which has been earned locally in the National Capital/Chesapeake Bay region for the past two years.
He also won a regional Edward R. Murrow award for technological innovation and was named the best weathercaster by Columbus Monthly and Phoenix Magazine. Even though she had already won five AP awards for outstanding weather anchor, Kelly was overjoyed to win the crown.
