Bette Midler made her film debut in the musical drama The Rose (1979), for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
She later went on to appear in a number of films, including Beaches (1988), Hocus Pocus (1993), The First Wives Club (1996), The Stepford Wives (2004), Parental Guidance (2012), and The Addams Family.
She was also in the films Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986), Ruthless People (1986), Outrageous Fortune (1987), Big Business (1988), and Outrageous Fortune (2013).

In terms of his siblings, he has three sisters. She was bred in Aiea and went to Radford High School in Honolulu. In 1961, she won the title of “Most Talkative” at her school, and in her senior year, “Most Dramatic” (class of 1963).
Midler took three semesters of acting at the University of Hawaii at Manoa before dropping out. At the University of Hawaii at Manoa, she joined Delta Phi Epsilon and eventually graduated as one of its many illustrious members.
As an extra in the 1966 film Hawaii, she earned money by portraying Miss David Buff, an anonymous seasick visitor. Her sister, Judith Midler, dies in a vehicle accident.
