Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury DBE was an Irish-British and American actress and vocalist who lived from October 16, 1925, to October 11, 2022.
She portrayed a variety of parts in cinema, on stage, and on television throughout the course of a career spanning eight decades. Although she lived much of her life in the United States, her art garnered recognition on a global scale and several accolades.

Lansbury, the daughter of English politician Edgar Lansbury and Irish actress Moyna Macgill, was born into an upper-middle-class family in Central London.
She immigrated to the US in 1940 and began studying acting in New York City as a means of escaping the Blitz. After arriving in Hollywood in 1942, she signed a contract with MGM and landed her first movie parts in The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945), National Velvet (1944), and Gaslight (1944), which helped her win several prizes. After her contract with MGM expired in 1952, she continued to appear in eleven more MGM movies, often in supporting roles, and she started to balance out her film career with stage performances. Even though she was mostly regarded as a B-list celebrity during this time, her performance in the 1962 movie The Manchurian Candidate gained tremendous praise and is regularly referenced.
