Andre Payette, a legend in British ice hockey, was found dead at the age of 46.
During his time in the UK, the former Coventry Blaze fan favorite played for the Manchester Phoenix, Sheffield Steeldogs, Whitley Warriors, and Newcastle Vipers in addition to being a member of their Grand Slam-winning 2004–2005 team.
Additionally, he was a coach in Sheffield and the Hull Pirates’ commercial director for two years.
Payette most recently served as the Mackenzie Mountaineers’ head coach in his native Canada.

He spent his first season in Coventry after moving there in 2004 before switching to Newcastle, where he played for the Vipers for four seasons.
Before moving on to the Sheffield Steeldogs, where he spent five years as a player and coach, Payette played for Manchester Phoenix for just one season.
He departed the Whitley Warriors in 2017, and his stint in the UK came to an end there in the northeast.
