Actress Abi Monterey is of American descent. She was born in Florida’s state capital, Tampa.
At age 12, she went on her first professional tryout. She was chosen to play Cindy Lou Who in the Madison Square Garden production of the Broadway musical How the Grinch Stole Christmas. She later moved to New York City and began a professional career there.
She founded “The Shapiro Sisters,” a sister-duo cabaret, with her sister Milly Shapiro. They were the first actors under the age of 18 to design and host their own show at 54 Below in New York City.
Through high school, she received extensive dance instruction at the Joffrey Ballet School.
