Ashanti, the talented singer and Grammy winner, recently took to Instagram to share some exciting news with her fans.
In a video posted on April 22, the 43-year-old artist proudly displayed her growing baby bump in a figure-hugging dress. The blue ruched outfit accentuated all her curves, and it seems to be the same dress she wore at the POSSIBLE marketing conference in Miami on April 17.
In the video, Ashanti can be seen flaunting her chic maternity look while her own song, “Sweet Baby,” plays in the background. She captioned the post with a nod to her hit song, confirming her pregnancy with fiancé Nelly: “My sweet baby 🙏🏽 Well….. (Our) Sweet baby 🤣🤣😘 @nelly.”
Fans flooded the comments section to share their well wishes and excitement for the couple. One user wrote, “Awww Shan 🥹🥹🥹 You deserve all of this and so much more. Ashanti and Nelly officially announced their engagement and pregnancy in April, with Ashanti expressing her gratitude and anticipation for the new chapter in her life. She shared with Essence, “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope and anticipation. Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”
The couple first sparked pregnancy rumors at the 11th Black and White Ball in December, where they shared a sweet moment on stage. Three months earlier, Nelly confirmed their rekindled romance and back-together status during an appearance on the Boss Moves with Rasheeda show. The rapper explained, “It wasn’t anything that we planned. We both were pretty much doing what we do, but sometimes, being separate, you understand one another more. You could be like, ‘Well yo, let me exactly see maybe what they see.’ We all can be defensive sometimes in our own relationships. We know we’re wrong but we’re going to stand on it, you know what I mean? But we’re all a victim to that.”
This will be Ashanti’s first child, while Nelly is already a loving father to son Cornell III “Tre”, 25, and daughter Chanelle “Nana,” 30. He also played a significant role in raising his niece Sydney and nephew Shawn after his sister, Jackie Donahue, passed away from leukemia at the age of 31 in March 2005.
