Patricia Franklin is an 80 years old English actress who was born on September 11, 1942 and is best known for her parts in the five Carry-On films. Franklin made her stage debut as a hostess in an episode of At Last The 1948 Show in 1968 after receiving her degree from RADA. She subsequently spent nine months in the West End performing in Uproar in the House with Joan Sims and Peter Butterworth.
Peter Rogers, the producer of the Carry-On movie, was there since Sims and Butterworth were regulars in the show. Franklin accepted his offer to play a part in the future film. Franklin’s performance in Carry On Camping impressed Rogers, who then gave her a role as a nurse in his third movie, Carry On Again Doctor (1969). However, Franklin had to turn down the opportunity because she had to commit to the Royal Court Theatre’s production of Edward Bond’s play Saved.
