Calesha “Bre-Z” Murray, born July 22, 1987, is an American actress and rapper best known for her roles as Freda Gatz in Empire and Tamia “Coop” Cooper in the American drama series All American.

Bre-Z was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. Her grandma called her “Bre-Z” when she was a baby because she wouldn’t stop crying until a window was closed, earning the nickname “breezy”.

She learned that it wasn’t her real name when she started kindergarten. When she was younger, she had short hair and was frequently mistaken for a man. In the sixth grade, she decided to pursue music studies.

Bre-Z was born to David Mayfield (Father), and Carla Mayfield (Mother). Her mother worked in the entertainment industry.  Since her mother worked in the industry and the Wu-Tang Clan once woke her up in her living room, Bre-Z knew she would work in the entertainment industry from a young age. Z graduated from Bre-high school in 2005.
