Among other prominent roles, he played Jim Brown in the 2020 film One Night in Miami, MC Ren in the 2015 biopic Straight Outta Compton, Levi Jackson in the 2016 film Hidden Figures, Noah in the WGN America series Underground, and Matthew in the Netflix series Girlfriends. He portrays Carter Hall/Hawkman in the DC Extended Universe starting with Black Adam (2022).

In 2019 he began portraying Decourcy Ward for Showtime’s Kevin Bacon’s City on a Hill. Hodge will star in a Jaume Collet-DCEU film alongside Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, and Pierce Brosnan.

Black Adam will play Carter Hall/Hawkman in Serra’s 2022 film, which was announced in 2020. In the Amazon Prime Video streaming drama Cross, which is based on the James Patterson book series, it was announced in October 2022 that he will play the show’s protagonist Alex Cross.
